Hold Fast 2023
These days, it feels like the only certainty in China is uncertainty.
After 2022 brought strict Covid-Zero lockdowns, a power-cementing National Congress, protests, surging Covid cases, and a mass exodus of people fleeing the country, China is in a state of flux. For the Chinese house church, last year also saw an increase in arrests, harassment, and persecution.
When we asked two prominent Chinese Christian leaders how we should pray for the church in China in 2023, they pointed to Hebrews 3:6: "But Christ is faithful over God's house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope."
That is why, in 2023, the theme of our prayer movement is Hold Fast. Even with persecution increasing—and even as many leave China to start new lives in new lands—our longing is that they would not be shaken from their firm foundation. Each month, we will be praying for a specific area in which we long for them to hold fast, such as holding fast to Christ, holding fast to hope, or holding fast to joy. Will you join us in praying for the church in China to hold fast in 2023?
